Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures are the oldest continuous cultures in the world. First Nations peoples remain deeply connected to land, family, law, spirit, and story. This course has been designed to help you work respectfully, effectively, and safely alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly in a housing setting.


COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand how communication styles and cultural protocols influence engagement.
  • Identify the impact of history, colonisation, and intergenerational trauma.
  • Appreciate the health and wellbeing challenges facing many Aboriginal communities.
  • Consider practical ways to provide culturally respectful and trauma-informed services.
